Present Simple
- It is used for regular activities, routines, habits, etc.
The two main verbs/auxiliar verbs are the verb to be and do/does (which is represented by adding an -S to the verb used by the third person (he, she, it) in positive sentences. Questions and negative sentences require do/does according to the subject.
The other verbs are not modified unless the aforementioned use. - Structure:
- Positive: Subject + verb en infinitive (without “to”) + “s” for he, she and it.
- Negative: Subject+ “do not” (don’t) or “does not” (doesn’t) + verb in infinitive (without “to”).
- Question: “Do” or “Does” + subject + verb en infinitive (without “to”).
- Examples:
- Positive: She sings beautifully.
- Negative: They do not (don’t) eat meat.
- Question: Does he like ice cream?
